Stop greyhound racing in Australia
Australia has the largest greyhound racing industry in the world, with more tracks than all other countries combined. We are now one of only a handful of countries where it remains legal.
In 2025, 119 greyhounds died on Australian racetracks and 10,785 injuries were recorded. Some dogs bred for racing are never registered and disappear from the system, and some registered dogs are given banned substances to boost performance.
Loopholes mean greyhounds can be sent overseas for racing and breeding, including to countries with worse animal welfare laws.
We need your help to call on state MPs to support a ban on greyhound racing and redirect funding toward rescue and rehoming.
Momentum is building for a ban. In 2026, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales have all legislated a ban. Tasmania has introduced legislation to phase it out, but it requires support in the upper house to secure the ban.
It is time for this cruel industry to end Australia-wide.
If you live in the ACT, there is no need to act as there is already a ban in place.
