End Duck Shooting in Victoria
Each year, Victoria continues to permit recreational duck shooting, despite increasing evidence raising concerns about its impact on wildlife populations.
An independent panel has found that waterbird numbers and wetland availability across eastern Australia have remained below long-term averages for several years. Climate change, drought and habitat loss are already affecting breeding success. Allowing hunting in these conditions may place additional pressure on species by removing breeding adults from populations that are still recovering.
Despite these findings, the Victorian Government continues to allow a duck shooting season each year. This is not about tradition. It is about whether wildlife laws reflect ecological reality, animal welfare, and the public interest.
Take action now and tell the Victorian Government to end recreational duck shooting.
